The wrath of Superstorm Sandy created many challenges for the team on the New York University Medical Center Langone Emergency Department expansion project, but their solidarity ensured project success. This presentation will examine the power of genuine teamwork and the challenges that come with working in a constantly changing environment and responding to natural disasters. Presenters will focus on the construction and related design processes, addressing lessons learned and best practices.
This session will enable attendees to:
Assess your team’s collaboration from start to completion of a project.
Analyze the process NYU used to complete the redesigned project rather than continue with the original plan to do work in phases.
Identify the key benefits of integrating construction and design.
Describe how the design of the emergency department changed after Superstorm Sandy to protect the hospital from future natural disasters.
