Description

Hospitals are increasingly in need of water risk management planning to reduce and eliminate the possibility of waterborne illness. ASHRAE published standard ASHRAE 188-2015 to establish minimum requirements for building water systems. To assist members in complying with the standard, ASHE has published a monograph that provides detailed guidance on the development and implementation of a water management program. This session offers a review of the newly published ASHE water management monograph.

Learning Objectives:

1.) Explain the importance of a water management program.

2.) Develop a water management program to protect patients, visitors, and staff from waterborne pathogens.

3.) Meet the water system requirements of CMS Condition of Participation 482.42 Infection Control.

4.) Meet the water system requirements of the Joint Commission Environment of Care and the requirements of ASHRAE Standard 188.
