Gloria Cascarino Senior Associate

Director of Medical Equipment Planning, Francis Cauffman Architects

As a former Director of Hospital Operations and Materials Management for more than 20 years, Gloria was “The Client” during construction and renovation projects. This previous on-site/on-staff experience gives her unique patient-care and safety perspectives as the Director of Medical Equipment Planning at Francis Cauffman, a national design firm. An expert in emerging technology and equipment budgeting, she plans medical equipment for all types of healthcare clients – from academic medical centers to community hospitals and physician practices - with projects that range from small renovations to replacement hospitals. She also has a special interest in energy-efficient equipment that conserves resources while improving patient outcomes and satisfaction. Whether working with her own firm or with professionals from other firms, Gloria is a valued member of project teams - coordinating the flow of data, facilitating project management and preserving critical deadlines. From conceptual planning through project completion, she also brings important insights about regulatory issues and functionality of healthcare design. At the same time, she provides guidance to clinical staff to maximize their use of existing equipment, forecast technology needs and make prudent spending decisions. Her knowledge and her spirit of collaboration and support enables the design team to have confidence that all medical equipment has been accommodated, and it enables the clinical team to have confidence that they will have the equipment that they need to provide care in their new spaces - within their approved spending limits. Gloria has been an active member of the Center for Health Design’s Environment of Care Committee for many years. She is also an experienced presenter at national and regional conferences, as well as the author of articles in leading healthcare magazines.
