Energy Manager, Penn Medicine
Kat is the Energy Manager for Penn Medicine working at the University of the Hospital of Pennsylvania, Presbyterian Hospital and Pennsylvania Hospital. In her current role she is responsible for discovering and implementing energy savings projects, maximizing incentives, managing utilities, including utility contracts and budgets, as well as overseeing construction projects to ensure energy efficiency. Kat has lead varying size energy savings projects at Penn Medicine from simple VFD and lighting replacements to large scale chiller plant optimization.
As an active member of American Society of Healthcare Engineers Philadelphia chapter, Healthcare Facility Managers Association of Delaware Valley, Kat is active rolling out ASHE’s Energy to Care program within the Philadelphia area. As a member of the University of Pennsylvania’s Faculty Senate Committee on the Institutional Response to the Climate Emergency, she is working to ensure Carbon Neutrality for the University and University Health System by 2042. She is also a member of the Association of Energy Engineers.
Kat graduated from Clarkson University with a B.S. in Engineering & Management. Kat has pursued her passion for sustainability by working for over 20 years in the energy field. Working in the Performance Solutions industry, Kat has been a development manager, energy engineer and measurement and verification engineer in the performance solutions industry for Energy Services Companies; Also, she has worked as an Energy Manager for Sodexo and High Falls Brewing.
