Vice President Clinical Ancillary Services, Valleywise Health

Jo-el Detzel serves as Vice President of Clinical Ancillary Services for Valleywise Health, Maricopa County’s public teaching hospital and safety net health care system. Jo-el leads the Clinical Laboratory, Pharmacy, Imaging, Cardiology, Pulmonary, Respiratory, Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapy Departments. She also serves as the executive project sponsor for the construction of the Acute Care Medical Center, Maryvale Hospital renovation, Peoria Comprehensive Health Center and seven new Ambulatory Clinics. Jo-el joined Valleywise Health in 2000 as a Registered Respiratory Therapist. Under Jo-el’s leadership, the Clinical Laboratory has completed many successful CAP surveys, Board of Pharmacy, and Imaging regulatory certifications.

In her previous role, Jo-el also led the Ancillary and Support Services which included Facilities, EVS, Food Services, Linen and partnered with Security on enterprise level changes. This role brought together efforts for clinical and support teams, to collaborate and prioritize efforts during a transitional phase for Valleywise Health. Jo-el led these teams through DNV, state audits and licensing of new facilities.
