Brian O'Connor PE

Brian O’Connor is a Senior Engineer in the Technical Services department at the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). He is a licensed Professional Engineer in Texas and Massachusetts and holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Rowan University and a Master of Engineering in Fire Protection Engineering from the University of Maryland. Brian volunteers with the University of Maryland Fire Protection Engineering Alumni Club and with the Society of Fire Protection Engineers (SFPE) at both the regional and national levels. In recognition of his contributions to the profession, he was named a recipient of the 2025 SFPE Top 5 Under 35 Award. His expertise includes spaceports, batteries, water-based fire protection systems, healthcare facilities, and fire extinguishers, with a focus on advancing fire and life safety through technical guidance, standards development, and industry collaboration.
