Code Architect, Flad Architects

Henry Kosarzycki AIA, Architect, is currently the Code Architect with Flad Architects. Prior to joining the team at Flad Henry served as the Director of the Office of Plan Review and Inspection with the Wisconsin Department of Health Services. As the director Henry led his staff in all health care projects in Wisconsin from plan review and construction through federal surveys on behalf of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
Henry’s professional career in public service included the Wisconsin Department of Commerce Division of Safety and Buildings as a Program Manager. While serving with the Division of Safety and Buildings Henry provided code training throughout the State of Wisconsin. During his tenure with the State of Wisconsin the code training audiences covered all stakeholders from Architects to owners to builders to building and fire officials. The core of the training focused on regulatory models, process, code training and certification of building and fire officials.
Before joining the State, he worked for a major construction company in the design-build industry, practiced in a traditional architectural firm and served as a plan reviewer for the City of Milwaukee.
Henry has served on various national committees and councils including the International Green Construction Code workgroup, chair of the American Institute of Architects Codes and Standards committee and the National Institute of Building Sciences as chair of the National Council on Building Codes and Standards. Henry continues to serve as vice chair on the International Code Council Health Care Committee. Henry is also serving on the International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety Design Guidelines Workgroup. In Wisconsin Henry is a member of the AIA Wisconsin Codes Committee as well as the Wisconsin Healthcare Engineering Association Code Committee.
