Jim Prister FACHE

President and Chief Executive Officer, RML Specialty Hospitals

Born in the Detroit area, Jim is currently the president and CEO of RML Specialty Hospitals, a not-for-profit LTCH system in the Chicago area. RML is a partnership between two large systems (Loyola University Health System and Advocate Aurora Health).
Jim formed RML in 1996 and has been president and CEO ever since. Prior to moving to Chicago, Jim spent 10 years as the VP of Operations with the Sparrow Health System in Lansing, Mich. Jim completed his undergrad in economics and management at Albion College and then went on to receive a master’s in health services administration from the University of Michigan.
He and his team have built RML into a leading LTCH in the country. RML is the largest ventilator weaning hospital and conducts research on how to improve outcomes for this very complex patient population. He has actively participated in state and national efforts to improve the understanding, role and benefits an LTCH can provide to health care systems. He has served on several Technical Expert Panels for CMS and is also serving as the chair of the AHA Post-Acute Care Steering Committee. He is a past president of the National Association of Long-Term Hospitals.
