Josh Brackett is the Corporate Regulatory Director of Facilities at Banner Health. He has led efforts to reduce unnecessary life safety features and leverage innovative alternative compliance methods, which have resulted in over $80 million in avoided spend. These efforts have safeguarded more than $10 billion in patient revenue, demonstrating the intersection of operational efficiency and excellence. Josh began his career in fire protection design at a national engineering firm, gaining a robust foundation in codes and standards. This expertise fueled his contributions to the Sustainability and Regulatory Affairs Committees at the American Society for Health Care Engineering (ASHE), where he built a nationwide network. Transitioning to a fire protection contracting company, he established regulatory processes and procedures for hospitals across Arkansas and neighboring states. At Baptist Health, Arkansas’ largest health care organization, he led initiatives in regulatory compliance, energy management, and process improvement. As the co-founder of Legacy FM, Josh dedicates himself to empowering healthcare facilities teams through tailored education and training. Legacy FM focuses on empowering the professionals who maintain our hospital’s critical infrastructure by providing them with the tools and resources they need to serve our patients best. Currently pursuing a JD at Ohio Northern University Pettit College of Law, Josh aspires to influence federal policy, reform industry standards, and drive national code reform. His work is anchored in his core belief that “Right is right, even when nobody is doing it. Wrong is wrong, even when everyone is doing it.” Josh achieved Fellow status at ASHE, serves as a Trustee on the NFPA Research Foundation Board, and actively engages with numerous ASHE, NFPA, and ASHRAE committees, driving innovation and continuous improvement in healthcare facilities management. His career reflects a continuous dedication to enhancing both current operations and future standards.
