Mark Schwartz is the Director of Facilities and Operations at the University of Rochester Medical Center. His responsibilities include an 835-bed acute care hospital, a medical school with research and clinical production facilities, seven (7) affiliated hospitals, and over 300 off-site ambulatory facilities. Responsibilities include Engineering Services, Skilled Trades, Building Automation, Construction Services, Preventive / Predictive Maintenance, Environmental Services, and Data Center Operations for the University. Mark chairs the Hospital’s Environment of Care Council, providing leadership in meeting strict regulatory and Joint Commission Standards. Additional committees include infection prevention, perioperative services, and senior leadership. The total operating budget is over $110M, with the medical facility portfolio exceeding 8M GSF. Mr. Schwartz is past president of the Genesee Valley Regional Association for Healthcare Engineers. He served three times as the Association’s chairperson for Program, Advocacy, and Education. He has over 45 years of experience in Facilities specializing in Healthcare, Academia, and Mission Critical Research Facilities.
