Paul Marmion

Senior Principal, Stantec Consulting

Paul Marmion has been in the heating, ventilating and air conditioning and sustainable design industry since 1965. In 1970, Paul joined Fred S. Dubin Int’l (NYC) where he was responsible for the design of HVAC systems for a number of large facilities in South Africa. In 1975, Paul joined DW Thomson Consultants (DWT) as a Design Engineer, becoming a shareholder and Chief Mechanical Engineer in 1986, responsible for the Building Engineering and Energy/ Sustainability groups. Following the acquisition of DWT by Stantec Consulting Ltd. in 1997, Paul assumed the position of Managing Principal responsible for the Vancouver office Buildings Engineering and Sustainability groups. In 2006, Paul became a Senior Principal and a leader of Stantec’s Healthcare Research and Innovation group.

Paul specializes in cost effective design solutions and is a leader in the industry in reducing the built environmental impact on our environment. He has won a number of engineering awards, presented at numerous conferences and published several papers on sustainable design. He was involved in the writing of the National Energy Code of Canada, was a past director of the Canadian Green Build Council and recently awarded USGBC LEED Fellowship (one of two LEED fellows in Canada).
