Randy's expertise in developing and building partnerships, along with his passion for communicating industry issues, is key in his role at The Center, where he works with industry partners to develop programs, education, and events designed to help improve health and explore the intersection of People, Place, and Process in design. Previously, Randy was a senior vice president at Planetree. As a highly regarded speaker, facilitator, author, and consultant, Randy has, for more than thirty years, inspired healthcare organizations nationally and internationally to make fundamental changes in their practices and systems. Helping to transform the way person-centered care is defined and delivered through healing environments, service, and leadership, and enhancing the patient, family, and employee experience. In 2011, Randy was the recipient of Planetree International’s Lifetime Achievement Award. During his time as a healthcare administrator and consultant, Randy has contributed to numerous mainstream publications, healthcare periodicals, and the promotion of person-centered care and healing environments in the media. These include contributions to the books “Putting Patients First”(Jossey-Bass Publishing), which won the ACHE Hamilton Book of the Year Award, “Turned On Organizations” (Harper Business), and the first edition of “The Putting Patients First Field Guide: Global Lessons in Designing and Implementing Patient-Centered Care” (Jossey-Bass Publishing). Mr. Carter’s service on advisory boards and expert panels includes: - Advisory Board Member - Florida Institute for Built Environment Resilience (FIBER) at the University of Florida - Commissioner on the National Health Council’s Putting Patients First Campaign - Patient-Centered Experts Advisory Panel – NRC Health and Picker Institute - The Institute for Alternative Future’s National Collaborative Task Force on Disparity Reducing Advances in Washington, DC. - Evidence-based Design Accreditation and Certification (EDAC) Advisory Council Randy and his family reside in the US Pacific Northwest and enjoy accessing and enjoying nature as often as possible.
