Amanda Mewborn is Vice President of Planning, Design, and Construction at Atrium Health, where she is responsible for managing over $4 billion in projected construction spend over the next five years, including more than 1,500 construction projects across more than 40 campuses in four states. In her previous role of Vice President of Facilities and Support Services at Atrium Health Navicent, Amanda was responsible for more than 500 teammates, leading many services for the Central & South Georgia Market. Before joining Navicent, Amanda worked at Piedmont Healthcare in Atlanta where she led development of a $452 Million, almost 1 million square foot expansion to an urban hospital with the tenth highest acuity in the country, completing the project under budget and opening early to provide additional capacity for patients with COVID-19. Amanda earned a Bachelor of Science degree in industrial and systems engineering from Georgia Tech, a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from Georgia State, and a Master of Science degree in health systems from Georgia Tech. She is also a registered nurse, Lean Black Belt from the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers, and quality and process improvement Black Belt from Mercer University. She currently serves as president-elect and senior member of the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers, founding member and Advisory Board Chair for the Georgia Chapter of Women in Healthcare, Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives, programs committee member of the Georgia Association of Healthcare Executives, and Diplomate and past president and past board member for the Society for Health Systems. In 2018, she was recognized by the Atlanta Business Chronicle as a “Top 40 Business Leader Under Age 40,” and in 2021, she was recognized by Women in Healthcare as “Outstanding Leader of the Year.”
